Kayla Stenstrom

In November 2010, Kayla joined the Zion Lutheran and Metigoshe Ministries staff as a TRAC Coach (Transformational Relationships Anchored in Christ). She served Zion as Youth Director and coordinated retreats, develops summer programming, and trains staff for Metigoshe Ministries.  Her passion for youth ministry stems from summers as a counselor and program coordinator at Camp Metigoshe (2006-2008), where she met her husband Kevin.  In May 2013, Kayla became the full-time Director of Youth & Family Ministry at Zion.

Kayla was born in Fargo and raised in Minot, so she knows North Dakota well.  Kayla attended the University of North Dakota for two years then transferred to Minnesota State University of Moorhead to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English, with an emphasis in Writing and Publishing (2009). During college, Kayla studied at Oxford University in England and traveled throughout Europe. She longs to revisit England and Ireland. Following graduation, she moved to Minneapolis for an editorial internship with Milkweed Editions, a non-profit publishing company.  In October 2010, Kevin and Kayla got married in Stillwater, MN, and returned to Minot after working various jobs and moving around the Twin Cities.

Kevin and Kayla have enjoyed being in Minot and have felt so welcomed in the local community.  On July 2, 2012, their daughter Cali was born.  In her free time, Kayla spends every precious moment with her beautiful little girl, and also likes to read, watch Netflix, and spend time with friends--many of whom she met at Zion.
